Along with leadership focused outcome-based activity program for all ages, HBLC offers two programs for older campers leading towards leadership opportunities at camp and in the community:
The development of strong leaders is important at Hidden Bay. Our Leader in Training program is designed for campers who are a minimum of 13 years of age as of July. This is the first step to becoming a future leader at the Camp.
The activities offered are designed to encourage self-confidence and leadership ability. As an LIT, campers have the opportunity to learn some skills necessary to lead games, instruct activities and prepare to become a Counsellor in Training.
Our Counsellors in Training have completed the LIT program and are turning 16 years of age. They are provided with the opportunity to “work” for four weeks with the campers under the supervision of the Counsellors and the Camp Director. This allows them to develop the ability to become a positive role model, implement good relationships with the campers and demonstrate effective leadership skills.
Each individual must apply for the position and successfully interview with the Director. The program is designed to not only prepare the individual for the responsibilities of future employment at Hidden Bay, but to help them acquire leadership skills for any endeavour that they may choose to do.
